"Ways To Be Wicked" is an opening song from the Disney Channel original movie, Descendants 2. The song is performed by Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart, and Sofia Carson - in their roles as Mal, Carlos De Vil, Jay, and Evie. The song is produced by Sam Hollander and Josh Edmondson who wrote the song with Grant Michaels and Charity Daw.

Story[]

The Core Four decide to have some fun and wreak chaos by spelling some apples to bring out the wicked side of the people of Auradon. They spread the apples throughout the school, causing all the students to fall under their spell, along with their AK adult friends: Fairy Godmother, Belle, and Beast. The VKs then lead a chaotic march around the campus, vandalizing and partying. With everyone gathered together, the VKs finish their number.

The camera zooms into Mal's eye and back out, revealing that the entire song was just in her head and that in reality, she is playing the part of royal girlfriend and being asked multiple questions by reporters

Lyrics[]

We got all the ways to be
W-I-C-K-E-D
We got all the ways to be
W-I-C-K-E-D

Come on!
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey

Crashing the party
Guess they lost my invitation
Friendly reminder
Got my own kind of persuasion

Looks like this place could use
A bit of misbehaviour
Happily ever after
With a little flavour

Bad to the bone
With even worse intentions
We're gonna steal the show
And leave 'em all defenseless

A fairy tale life can be
Oh, so overrated
So raise your voices and
Let's get it activated

Long live havin' some fun
We take what we want,
There's so many ways to be wicked
With us evil lives on the right side of wrong
There's so many ways to be wicked

Apple, apple
Dip, dip
Wanna try it?
Tick, tick
Take a bite
Come on, be bold
Change the way the story's told

This time the dark is
Finally getting your attention

We're wicked by the book
And class is back in session

You like it, steal it
Gotta beat 'em to the treasure

A rite of passage
Bad just doesn't get much better

Long live havin' some fun
We take what we want
There's so many ways to be wicked
With us evil lives on the right side of wrong
There's so many ways to be wicked

Mother always knows best
Show her, pass every test
Hear her voice in my head
Evil is the only real way to win

We got all the ways to be
(Hey, hey, hey, hey)
W-I-C-K-E-D
Let's go!
We got all the ways to be
(Hey, hey, hey, hey)
W-I-C-K-E-D

Long live havin' some fun
We take what we want
There's so many ways to be wicked
With us evil lives on the right side of wrong
There's so many ways to be wicked

Cruel and unusual
We're taking control
There's so many ways to be wicked
With us evil lives on the right side of wrong
There's so many ways to be wicked

(Hey, hey, hey, hey)
We got all the ways to be
W-I-C-K-E-D
We got all the ways to be
W-I-C-K-E-D
We got all the ways to be
W-I-C-K-E-D
We got all the ways to be
So many ways to be wicked

Trivia[]

  • This song was featured in two Descendants 2 trailers, 'Long Live Evil' and Teaser.
  • Mal's first solo line: "Crashing the party, guessed they lost my invitation!", is an allusion to her mother Maleficent, who, in "Sleeping Beauty", was not invited to the baptism of little Aurora, thus starting the plot of the film.
  • The line "Mother always knows best" sung by Carlos is an allusion to Mother Gothel from Tangled who tells Rapunzel that mother knows best
  • 99 apples were used to film the music number.[1]
  • In the audio only version and lyric videos, there is an extra stanza that is not included in the film or music videos. The line is "Cruel and unusual, We're taking control, There's so many ways to be wicked, With us, evil lives on the right side of wrong, There's so many ways to be wicked".
  • A Japanese version sung by Miracle Vell Magic was released as a bonus track on the Descendants 2 soundtrack in Japan, but never used in any of the films.
