Lumiere is a servant to Beast and Belle and one of the heroes of Auradon. He was mentioned in Descendants 2 by Ben and then later appears as a minor character to announce the arrival of Ben at Cotillion and was supportive of Mal after the former was freed from the spell placed on him by Uma.
History[]
A peppy candelabra who can easily handle his flames and a loyal member of the Beast's staff.
Before Auradon[]
Beauty and The Beast[]
Lumiere serves as a suave maître d’ to the Prince. One night, when the enchantress changed the Prince into a beast for turning her away because of her appearance of a old beggar woman on a cold stormy day, Lumiere and the other staff members were turned into household (or castlehold in this case) objects; he was turned into a literal candelabra and stayed that way along with the others in their respective forms until Belle arrived at the castle to look for her father Maurice, who was imprisoned by the beast after he came into the castle and was welcomed by Lumiere, Mrs. Potts and Chip. Lumiere realizes that Belle could be the one to break the spell and, despite Cogsworth's objections, tried to make her feel welcomed with the musical number "Be Our Guest" . After the musical number Lumiere and Cogsworth gives Belle a tour of the castle when she came across the pathway to The West Wing, the wing Beast strictly forbade Belle from entering. Lumiere and Cogsworh tried to persuade Belle to go to the Library instead to no avail. The Beast turns out to be indeed very angry with Belle and after frightening her, she leaves. Lumiere and the others tend to an injured Beast after he saves Belle from a pack of wolves to redeem himself for driving her out.
During the winter, Beast and the others discover the ladder has feelings for Belle and help him out with making a connection with her. Beast gives The Library to Belle suggested by Lumiere. In a moment of selflessness, Beast allows Belle to return home to tend to her sick father crushing the others who believe that their only chance to break the spell has been lost. When Gaston and the other villagers started breaking into the castle, Lumiere and Cogsworth lead the charge against the mob. At one point, he is almost killed by Gaston's right-hand man, LeFou, but is rescued by Cogsworth, who slides down the banister and pokes Lefou’s rear end. After being rescued by Cogsworth, Lumiere is horrified to see that his girlfriend, Fifi, is grabbed by Tom, one of Gaston’s stooges, who starts plucking some of her white feathers off while laughing maniacally. But unfortunately for Tom, Lumiere comes to Fifi’s rescue by burning Tom’s rear end, causing him to yell in extreme pain, allowing Lumiere to gracefully scoop up his girlfriend in his arms, much to their delight. After that, Lumiere, Cogsworth, and the other servants eventually succeed in driving out the mob, including LeFou.
After the mob, He and the others rush to aid Beast but its too late as Beast had died in Belle's arms after being stabbed by Gaston before the ladder falling off the castle and dying. Belle confessed her love to beast and the spell has been broken, reviving Beast turning him back into a human as well as the servants including Lumiere. He and the other servants as well as Belle and Beast live "Happily Ever After".
Descendants 2[]
Lumiere is mentioned by Ben when he asks someone to call him regarding Cotillion. He is also the herald at the Cotillion telling Mal to "Work it girl".
Physical Appearance[]
Lumiere appears in his human form as an oddly slender figure with a blue blouse, a golden blazer top, gold-colored pants, and glasses. It's unknown whether this is a servant outfit or a costume inspired by his candelabra form.
